Annual Events / Bike to the Bay

6th ANNUAL "BIKE TO THE BAY" EVENT PLANNED FOR MAY 8th
ALLOWAY, NJ - Get ready to ride in the sixth annual benefit bike ride for Ranch Hope’s Camp Edge on Saturday, May 8th.

“Bike to the Bay”  is a “show and go” start, as early as 6:30 a.m., that begins and ends at Camp Edge, ¼ quarter mile off Route 611 in Alloway Township, Salem County. Riders will enjoy the scenic roads of Salem and Cumberland counties on one of the 5, 10, 33, 66, or 100 mile loops.

The entrance fee is $60.00 per rider and sponsors are encouraged. The rider’s package includes giveaways, rest stops, SWAG, and a barbeque at the finish. A friendly bicycle mechanic will be available for last minute tune-ups or repairs.

“We had a great turnout and great weather for last year’s ride and we look forward to the May 8th event being even better,” said Jack Fosbenner, manager of Camp Edge.

Camp Edge also appreciates the support and continued sponsorship by Action Wheels of Woodbury, NJ.  Riders may pick up a brochure at their location, 1066 Route 45, Woodbury. Pre-registration is requested for this rain or shine event. Online registration is available through www.active.com.

Bike to the Bay is a great event for all ages and riders of all abilities, noted Fosbenner.  Families can register as a group for the 5-mile or 10-mile family ride. The cost is $110.00 per family. This year will also feature a Tandem rider category for $90.00.

Church groups are also encouraged to sign-up. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Church team with the most riders; Total miles ridden by a Church team; and Church team that raises the most money.

And if you’re traveling from a distance, camping will be available at Camp Edge the night before the event. Please call ahead to reserve a campsite.

Tickets for the post-ride barbeque will be available for non-riders. To order barbeque tickets, reserve a campsite, or to request a brochure, call 856-935-1555, ext. 172. The email address for Camp Edge is CampEdgeTeam@aol.com.

The money raised by the Bike to the Bay event supports scholarships for inner city youth to attend summer programs at Camp Edge.

Camp Edge serves as a retreat center, with a Ropes Challenge Course, and hosts summer camps for children ages 6 to 12. There are special schedules for Law Enforcement Camp, Inner City Youth, and Wilderness Adventure Camp.
